Social

It's impressive that we are not more impressed. Work is a social construct, formally invented around 200 years ago, with schedules, labor-divisions, laws and a super sophisticated structure.
When asked, "Who are you or what do you do?" many will respond with their career or job. One wonders what the childhood versions of ourselves would say about our lives now…
Without realizing it, and in a society more technological than ever, people find themselves working increasingly more, beyond basic needs - for ego, fear, inertia, or simply avoiding the most crucial questions. Why and for what purpose do we live for?
From an outsider's perspective, perhaps bees live to make honey, ants to create a network of food. If an alien were to observe us from afar, they would likely conclude that we live to work.
Consider an average worker with 3 weeks of vacation per year working for 50 years. Subtracting the 1/3 of the day spent sleeping, approximately 1.92 years of your life belong to you. The rest is devoted to work. 😳
What would cavemen say about this!?
